At Greenville Veterinary Clinic, we focus on client education and preventative health care. We believe in keeping our clients informed about their pets so as to help prevent disease, infection, and other health problems. It is easier and better for your pet to prevent problems rather than cure them once they have already become apparent. From birth throughout geriatric age, our focus is on keeping your pet healthy.
The Greenville Veterinary Clinic has very widespread capabilities. While our main focus is on preventative medicine and common illnesses we do pride ourselves on a couple of special areas.
Equine reproduction
- Our large animal vets are equipped with ultrasounds to help time your mares cycle and breeding. We have the capability of performing uterine cultures for those mares with infections. We routinely breed mares with chilled semen. Dr. Shine especially with her interest in horses is skilled in the timing, manipulation, and treatment of reproductive problems in mares. Additionally she has even successfully bred a mare with frozen semen (though this is a procedure that takes a great deal of work and is not routinely offered).
Small animal ultrasound
- As we mentioned on our facilities page we are now equipped with a small animal ultrasound. Dr. Clark performs ultrasounds to allow us to evaluate the size, shape, and make up of organs such as the spleen, liver, stomach, pancreas, and bladder. This allows us to sometimes visualize masses, stones, inflammation, or infection. Additionally we can ultrasound for pregnancy earlier than we can palpate or radiograph. Ultrasound is not the modality of choice for counting puppies or kittens though, we still recommend radiograph for that at 45 days or more.
Small animal orthopaedics
- There are veterinarians that specialize solely in orthopaedic surgery of small animals. While we recognize the benefit of a surgeons additional training we also recognize that at times the cost of referral makes this impractical for some of our clients. Thus Dr. Eichstadt has developed his skills in several orthopaedic procedures such as fracture and cruciate ligament repairs.
Equine Surgeries
- While we do not offer extensive surgeries such as those for colics, Dr. Shine does routinely perform cryptorchid castrations (non descended testicles) as well as umbilical hernia repairs.
