When you arrive at the clinic, a newly remodeled reception area, greets you. Due to our expanding client base we are adding desk space as well as file space to help us serve you and keep organized. |
| Our waiting room has expanded significantly in size to accommodate those who have to wait to see the doctor. We still have our walk on scale to help up keep track of your pets weight. The waiting room is stocked with informational pamphlets for both large and small animals as well as toys for children that come to see us. |
 |
| Our small animal ultrasound allows us to see abdominal organs (abdominal ultrasound) and the heart (echocardiography). Using the ultrasound we can evaluate various internal organs as well as check for pregnancy. |
 |

|
| Three of the four exam rooms are equipped for both routine examinations sick animal examinations with basic instruments as well as a video otoscope to allow both the doctor and owner to see the internal portions of the ear. A fourth room can be used for overflow when we are busy or for technician appointments so that you can remain with your pet for procedures such as suture removal or nail trims. |

| With our fully equipped laboratory, many tests can be performed in-house. We have the capability to perform complete blood counts, chemical profiles, urinalyses, ear cytologies as well as microscopic evaluation of masses and aspirates and several other diagnostic screening tests. We also have the equipment to perform bacterial cultures and sensitivities in clinic. There is a separate area for taking radiographs and we utilize an automatic processor for highest quality developing. |

Our patient housing area includes three separate rooms. The "Cat Room" provides twelve formica cages and 4 condos that provide a quiet resting place for our feline friends, while the "Dog Room" houses hospitalized canine companions. Often smaller boarding dogs prefer this room as it tends to be quieter than the run area. The Boarding Area includes eight spacious runs, all in a climate controlled room. Boarding animals each have their own bin area for personal belongings such as foods, medications, treats, and toys. All animal housing areas are equipped with central air-conditioning and heat.
This area is also in the process of remodeling. |

The state-of-the-art surgery room houses this small animal gas anesthesia machine and monitoring equipment. While under anesthesia, pets are monitored using both an EKG machine (to monitor the rate and rhythm of the heart), a pulse oximeter (which measures oxygen content of the blood), as well as temperature and respiratory rate. This allows us to provide a high level of safety at all times during anesthesia. At all times during anesthesia a highly trained assistant or technician is monitoring pulse, respiration, and depth of anesthesia. |
| As of the spring of 2006 our X-ray room went digital. This enables us to take higher quility x-rays and to send them by email or cd to specialists. We are also able to send copies home with clients. Our digital x-ray machine is enviromentaly sound because it does not require any chemicals. |

The office work area allows the staff to work on various projects, paperwork, and gives us room for staff meetings. It also includes a transcription area, all records are dictated by doctors, and then transcribed into the patient records, thus ensuring a complete and accurate record. |

|
| Our equine facilities include a surgical facility where we perform routine surgeries such as castrations and laceration repair. Additionally Dr. Shine handles more indepth procedures such as joint injections, umbilical hernia repair, and cryptorchid castrations. |

|
For our large animal patients, we have a nine stall barn and indoor area. The arena allows us to do lameness exams and pre-purchase exams without worrying about the nasty Pennsylvania weather. The barn area allows us to hospitalize and monitor medical and surgical cases that cannot be handled on the farm. |
| Lastly, we have a large horse pasture area in front of the clinic where clients often enjoy viewing the doctor's own horses. In this picture, "Fat Elvis" is all bundled up against the cold. He's hoping for a short winter! |
